The Ironwood Dirge is a dark fantasy novel set in a mystical world where the ancient forces of nature are bound by blood and sorrow. The Ironwood, a vast and sentient forest, stretches far beyond the known lands. Its trees are not just mere plants—they are alive with ancient consciousness, holding within their bark the tortured souls of rulers long dead. These spirits, bound by a curse, whisper of vengeance and hold the forest captive in an endless cycle of grief.

The heart of the Ironwood is home to the Thorns of the Wildheart, a mysterious order of druids who serve as guardians of the forest’s sacred heart. However, the balance is fragile. Rivers of Bloodsap—an ominous liquid that runs through the roots of the trees—feed the forest’s growth with the memories of the past, binding the land to an unrelenting curse. The forest’s guardians, known as the Mosswraiths, are spectral beings who haunt the forest, using their powers to possess and control the bodies of trespassers, ensuring that the dark magic of the Ironwood endures.

Beneath this haunted expanse lies the Ironwell, a deep chasm that houses the remains of the Iron Empire, an ancient civilization whose last king sealed his soul into the land, creating a weapon of unending vengeance. The pact that bound the kingdom to the Ironwood made the land a weapon for eternity, its power fueled by the souls of the dead.

The novel follows a diverse group of characters, each with a unique connection to the Ironwood and its curse. Seris Moonshade, a disgraced former knight, seeks redemption from the bloodstains of her past. She is drawn into the heart of the Ironwood to unravel its mysteries and destroy the source of the curse. Rhyssa Darkbranch, a former High Druid of the Thorns, is cursed by the blood of the Iron Empire, and her search for a way to lift her curse leads her deeper into the forest’s heart. Volin Thornehelm, a scarred mercenary, harbors a personal vendetta against the Iron Empire and its dark legacy. Kalia Stormtide, a water-binder with a lineage tied to ancient river-kings, seeks to reclaim her family’s legacy and prevent the forest’s corruption from reaching the waters she controls. Wulfran Kharaz, a berserker and former royal guard of the Iron Empire, joins the group to avenge the betrayal of the Ironwood that cost him his family. Finally, Faerilith Greenthorn, a Mosswraith bound to the forest, begins to regain her memories and questions her loyalty to the forest's dark power.

Supporting these characters are figures such as Ishara Blackbark, the last living member of the Wildheart Conclave, who has gone mad from the whispers of the Ironwood, and the Ironharrow, an ancient golem built from the forest itself to guard the heart of the Ironwood. The Hollow-King, the spectral remnant of the Iron Empire’s last king, waits in the depths of the Ironwell, his power growing as the forest’s curse festers. Oswin Ravensoul, a wandering scholar, seeks the lost knowledge of the Iron Empire, and Vaelith Mossveil, a shaman torn between his duty and the forest’s relentless influence, adds to the growing tension.

As the story unfolds across four acts, the protagonists journey through a world where nature’s vengeance is a constant threat. In Act I, Seris enters the Ironwood after hearing rumors of the Ironharrow awakening, signaling the forest’s rising power. Act II sees the group uncovering the dirge of the forest’s past as they come to realize that Seris’s own bloodline is deeply entwined with the Iron Empire’s curse. In Act III, the group confronts the Ironharrow, a nearly unstoppable force, while Kalia uncovers the Bloodsap Fountain, the dark source of the Iron Empire’s magic. In Act IV, the ultimate revelation comes—the Ironwood was forged by the last king of the Iron Empire, who bound the souls of his people to the land, creating a living weapon that would never stop.
