The Bone-Sealed Pact is a dark necromantic political fantasy set in the shattered, bone-littered empire of Vorr-Kaen, where the line between the living and the dead is blurred. In this world, monarchs are bound to the remains of their ancestors, their souls anchored to the Necropact Sanctum, a catacomb of royal corpses. Each ruler’s skeleton is grafted into the grotesque construct known as the Throne of Ancestors, a massive, bone-and-iron throne that whispers counsel to the living heirs. This ritual binding ensures that the rulers’ power is sustained by their dead forebears, but it also traps them in a cycle of endless servitude, where the spirits of the past continue to shape the decisions of the living.

At the heart of the story is Vaelor Kurnis, a young and newly crowned king. Burdened by the weight of his ancestors’ sins and haunted by their voices, Vaelor becomes the unwilling heir to a kingdom founded on the pact of necromantic control. The voices of dead kings whisper incessantly in his ears, commanding, guiding, and judging every action he takes. Despite the power granted by the blood-bond to the Throne of Ancestors, Vaelor is acutely aware of the price of this power. His ancestors are not just advisors—they are his tormentors. His very existence is defined by the Necropact, and breaking free of it seems impossible. Yet, as Vaelor takes the throne, cracks begin to appear in the Necropact Sanctum. Ancient seals begin to break, and the restless spirits of dead monarchs start to claw their way back into the world of the living, bringing their old grievances, secrets, and power struggles.

As the dead kings stir, Kirae Voshnar, an outcast heirloom thief with a mysterious past, steals a fragment of The Dirge Codex, an ancient and forbidden tome capable of severing the necromantic soul-bonds. This book could be the key to breaking the entire power structure of the empire—but it also poses an immense danger. If misused, it could release uncontrollable spirits from the Sanctum or bring the entire kingdom to ruin. Kirae’s actions set off a chain reaction that leads to the unraveling of the Necropact, plunging the empire into a chaos where power, death, and politics intertwine.

The tensions within the empire run deeper than the bonds between the living and the dead. Aeryth Khalen, the High Deathbinder, is both the guardian of the Necropact Sanctum and Vaelor’s most trusted advisor. As a necromancer who has sworn to uphold the ancient rites, she is caught between her duty to the kingdom and her growing realization that the Necropact is unsustainable. Her own relationship with death and power becomes more complicated as the situation spirals out of control. She discovers that the Pale Tongue, a secret cabal of rogue deathbinders, has infiltrated the court. This shadowy group has its own agenda—one that could turn the entire kingdom against Vaelor, seeking to manipulate the Necropact for their own purposes.

The empire is also under threat from Dren Vostarr, the captain of the Pale Guard, a loyal but secretly blood-cursed soldier whose own fate is tied to the power of the Necropact. Dren’s personal quest for redemption collides with Vaelor’s struggle for freedom from the dead kings, as he is tasked with leading a mission to purge rebel strongholds. Meanwhile, The Hollow Choir, the vengeful spirits of betrayed monarchs, begin plotting their rebellion from beyond the grave. These spirits seek revenge against those who have violated the Necropact, and they are more than willing to possess the living and manipulate them to achieve their goals.
